Do you fancy a bit of fancy dress? Are you partial to lycra on wheels? Want to showcase our community to the world?

The 2023 Tour Down Under hits the Fleurieu on Thursday 19 January 2023. The peloton leaves Brighton at 11 am and will cross the Myponga reservoir wall, then pass through Carrickalinga and Normanville, there’s a timed sprint through Yankalilla before riders tackle a King of the Mountain into Parawa… then on to Victor Harbor.

With the peloton going through four of our townships, we intend to leverage the massive media coverage of the Tour Down Under to showcase our communities.

The Santos Best Dressed competition has been part of the event since its inception in 1999. Theming of townships, private property, and businesses adds colour and vibrancy to this international event which is beamed to over 558 million people worldwide. In recent years, Myponga proudly took out the honours for best-dressed town.

For 2023, we are keen to work with businesses and community groups to theme our townships and communities for the world stage.

If you’re keen to brainstorm ideas for jazzing up our towns and businesses, I’d love to hear from you. Your commitment is a couple of meetings to toss around ideas and get a coordinated approach.

Please contact Lisa Pearson lisapearson@yankalilla.sa.gov.au if you are interested in being involved.
