Now and Next Program

I Can Jump Puddles with the support of the Myponga Primary School and funding from the District Council of Yankalilla were able to offer some fully funded places in the innovative ‘Now and Next’ program.

The ‘Now and Next’ program is usually only available for NDIS participants however we can see such worth for some of our families who do not fit that criteria. By funding this program in this way, it makes it available to everyone to access.

Unlike other ‘parenting programs’ ‘Now and Next’ focuses on the parents as the biggest influences in children’s lives.

In this family-centred strength-based program parents will learn to:

• Identify a vision for and set goals for your child and family.
• Use Goal to Action strategies to achieve three goals
• Create positive relationships with professionals
• Increase personal agency, well-being and family resilience.

Now and Next is facilitated by the organisation ‘I can jump puddles’ and COVID safe practices were in place.

The program was run from 10 May until 28 June 2022 for 8 weeks inclusively between the hours of 11am – 1:30pm.

The now and next program provided opportunities for participants to see value in themselves and their children and develop them selves as peer leaders. Participants' were excited and empowered for their future after completing this program.
