Preparing for emergencies in Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island

Emergencies like fires, floods, severe storms and earthquakes can strike at any time. In Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island (AHFKI) Zone, a number of organisation work together to help the region prepare for emergencies.

One of these is the AHFKI Zone Emergency Management Committee, which includes representatives from the Adelaide Hills Council, Alexandrina Council, City of Victor Harbor, District Council of Yankalilla, Kangaroo Island Council and Mount Barker District Council.

The committee's goal is to create safer and more resilient communities in the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island Zone.

As part of emergency planning, it's been identifed that potential emergencies in AHFKI Zone could include extreme heat or storms, floods, earthquake, bushfire and plant and animal disease.
