DCY Strategic Community Plan: VISION 2030

The DCY Strategic Community Plan: VISION 2030 describes Council and the community’s vision for the future. It is a high-level strategic document that shows how the Council will forge a path towards its Vision 2030 and where it will focus its efforts over coming years (2025-2029).

In 2020, the community shaped the vision for 2030. A lot has happened in the world and in our community since then. The COVID-19 pandemic has had global implications, impacting local communities like ours. As we adapt to a new normal with rising costs of living and doing business, our once-hidden gem now faces new pressures on our environment, communities, infrastructure and services.

However, this post-COVID era offers a chance to reshape and rethink as we aim for 2030. Our community’s resilience and resourcefulness has been our strength and we’ll need this as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead, creating a place of belonging and unfolding possibility where old meets new and inspiring things happen.

This plan is the result of a deliberate and extensive engagement effort, reflecting on the work completed since 2020 to consider our
places, our people, our communities and the world today. It realigns our priorities as we work towards the 2030 horizon. It considers
the needs and aspirations of all people who experience and form attachments to our District and the many ways this is expressed.

The long-term vision will be guided by six themes.
