Getting Involved in Decision Making

Community Engagement

Whether it’s a task, an activity, a program or a project, much of our work has an impact on, or is impacted by, our communities and the work of other people in the organisation.

Whatever we do will be more effective if the people affected by our work:

  • understand what we are doing and what it will mean for them
  • are involved at whatever level they need to ensure the best outcome.

The approach we use to achieve understanding and involvement with those affected by our decision making is called engagement. It covers levels of participation ranging from informing and consulting to active involvement.

Want to have your say - YourSayYankalilla will help you!

Your Say Yankalilla is an opportunity to provide your thoughts, feelings and ideas on all sorts of Council projects and activities. To participate, simply REGISTER, then go to the initiatives that tweak your interest and start engaging! Your feedback will ultimately inform and influence the decisions made by Council.

Your Say Yankalilla provides online tools that contribute to the overall consultation program for each initiative. If you prefer to engage with Council using traditional methods, hardcopy consultation packs and feedback forms are downloadable and also available in our Council's Main Office, The Yankalilla Youth and Community Centre and the Yankalilla Bay Visitor Information Centre.

Once you're registered we'll keep you up to date with Council news via our Enewsletter. We hope you enjoy engaging with us through this site and take this opportunity to help shape the District's future.

To view the current programs, projects and initiatives Council is seeking feedback on, access our YourSayYankalilla website.
