Submitting a Development Application

PlanSA is now home to South Australia’s new development application system. It is an online central source to access all information relating to Planning, Building & Development.

This platform will help you to submit and track development applications online, search property zoning and review development rules.

Do I need development approval?

If you’re planning on undertaking development, you may need approval before you get started. To find out if approval is needed for your project, you can access the approval wizard at www.plan.sa.gov.au to confirm the next steps.

By answering a few questions about your plans, the wizard can determine:

  • If you need approval
  • How to apply for approval
  • Who to contact for more information

HOW TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION

There are several ways you can lodge an application in the new planning system:

Via the PlanSA ePlanning Portal

Development Applications can be submitted on the ePlanning Portal via www.plan.sa.gov.au.

For detailed guidance on how to submit an application download the Guide to submitting a Development Application from PlanSA.

No forms will be required if you are lodging on the ePlanning Portal as these are built into the system.

Please note: All Onsite Wastewater Works Applications must still be lodged via email, post or in person (not through the ePlanning Portal).

Via email, post or in person

Should you choose to not lodge on the ePlanning Portal, Development Applications (along with all statutory forms) can be emailed, posted or delivered to Council. An additional $80 processing fee per application will be applicable for any Development Applications that are not lodged through the ePlanning Portal.

Forms for lodging a Development Application can be found on the PlanSA website.
