Cape Jervis Boat Ramp to Close for Ferry Terminal Upgrade Works

The District Council of Yankalilla has been advised by SeaLink that the Cape Jervis boat ramp will be closed from Monday 24 August to Friday 11 September 2026 to facilitate the final stage of the Cape Jervis Ferry Terminal upgrade.

During this period, the Cape Jervis Harbour will be closed to all marine users. Waterside access, including use of the Cape Jervis boat ramp, will be restricted to allow construction activities to be carried out safely.

The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of construction personnel and harbour users while barges, workboats and other support vessels are operating in the harbour. The extended closure will also allow for the mobilisation of construction equipment before the ferry shutdown and demobilisation once the works are complete.

As part of the project, the Kangaroo Island ferry service will be suspended from 1 to 3 September 2026 while the new ferry ramp and turning dolphin are installed.

To help minimise the impact on the boating community, the Wirrina boat ramp will be available free of charge from Monday 24 August to Friday 11 September 2026.

These works mark the final stage of SeaLink's Cape Jervis Ferry Terminal upgrade project, with completion expected in the coming months.

Council thanks the community for its patience and understanding while these important infrastructure upgrades are undertaken.
