In The Loop gets a fresh look and a new approach
You may notice a few changes to Council’s In The Loop newsletter.
We’ve given the newsletter a complete refresh, with a cleaner, more modern design, larger images and a simpler layout. We’re also changing the publication frequency from monthly to quarterly.
The change was unanimously endorsed by Council at its July meeting, following a review of how Council communicates with the community.
Evolving how we communicate
The move to a quarterly newsletter is part of an evolution in Council’s communications approach. It is not a reduction in Council’s communication activities.
In The Loop remains an important way for Council to share information with the community, including through printed copies for people who prefer to receive information in this format.
However, producing the newsletter each month requires a significant amount of staff time and resources. Moving to a quarterly publication will allow Council to better balance its communications resources across the many ways we communicate with the community.
This includes having more capacity to:
- keep Council’s website current with timely news and updates
- improve the accessibility of Council information
- develop more engaging digital content
- make greater use of media releases
- plan communications more strategically
- share more stories about Council projects, achievements and our community.
What will the new In The Loop look like?
The quarterly In The Loop will continue to be available in print and online, with four editions each year.
The refreshed publication will have a stronger focus on storytelling, community highlights, major projects, and important Council news.
There will also be opportunities to publish a special edition when there is important information to share or a particular need to communicate with the community.
What happens between editions?
You won’t need to wait for the next edition of In The Loop to find out what’s happening at Council.
Information that needs to be shared quickly will continue to be communicated throughout the year through the most appropriate channels, including:
- Council’s website
- media releases
- community engagement activities
- printed information where appropriate.
This approach recognises that different communication channels reach different audiences and are better suited to different types of information.
Stay connected
We’re looking forward to using the new-look In The Loop to share more of the people, projects and activities happening across our district, along with important Council updates.
In The Loop will continue to be available in print and online four times a year. If you would like to receive the digital edition by email, you can subscribe to the In The Loop mailing list.
