Aqua Blue Restaurant and Kiosk update
Following the closure of Aqua Blue Restaurant and Kiosk due to the liquidation of Firkin Burger Pty Ltd, Council is continuing to work with the liquidator, Clifton Hall, regarding the commercial tenancies located within the Normanville Surf Lifesaving building.
The liquidator has commenced advertising the opportunity to purchase the company’s assets, including the option to take over the Lease arrangements. Assets include restaurant and kiosk equipment, furniture, crockery, non-perishable stock and intangible property such as the business names and domain name.
Opportunity for prospective operators
As the building owner and landlord, Council is particularly supportive of discussions with prospective purchasers who may be interested in operating food and beverage services from the site.
Council has already received strong interest from potential operators. To ensure a fair and orderly process, all enquiries about purchasing the company's assets or future operation of the site should now be directed to the liquidator through a coordinated process led by them.
People interested in purchasing the assets or continuing or reactivating restaurant or kiosk operations from the premises should contact the liquidator’s representative, Josh Bown from Clifton Hall, at jbown@cliftonhall.com.au by Monday 21 September 2026.
Any future leasing arrangements will be subject to Council’s assessment and approval processes.
Exploring short-term food options
The Normanville Foreshore is a key destination for residents and visitors, and Council recognises the value of maintaining food and beverage offerings in the area. While the liquidation process continues and longer-term arrangements for the site are considered, Council is arranging temporary food service options, including food trucks and other mobile vendors.
While no decisions have been made at this stage, these options are being considered to help maintain food and beverage services at the foreshore during the transition period.
Looking ahead
Council will continue working with the liquidator through the exit process and is aiming to minimise the period the commercial spaces are inactive.
The priority is to secure a suitable future operator or operators who can deliver quality services, contribute to activation of the foreshore and support a positive visitor experience.
Council understands there is considerable community interest in the future of the site. While the liquidation process and any subsequent leasing arrangements will take time to progress, Council will continue to provide updates as milestones are achieved and as more information becomes available. Council also recognises that this is a difficult time for those affected by the business liquidation and will continue to approach the process with sensitivity and respect.
