Storm Damage Update – May 2025
Following recent storm activity, damage has been reported at various locations across the district. Community members are urged to take extra care when out and about and be mindful of debris, fallen branches and altered beach access due to sand movement.
Council staff are currently on the ground assessing storm impacts and prioritising works to ensure public safety. We appreciate your patience while our team works to make affected areas safe and accessible again.
Temporary Closures
Due to safety concerns, the following locations are currently closed until further notice:
- Normanville Jetty
- Myponga Beach access stairs
Depot Team Response
Our depot team has been working tirelessly across the district to address storm-related damage. This included the early recovery of the Normanville pontoon, which had shifted closer to the shore during the storm. The team was able to retrieve the pontoon largely undamaged and will now begin the process to see it returned to the water in time for summer.
Thank You to Emergency Volunteers
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the incredible volunteers from the CFS and SES, who responded day and night to storm impacts across the region. Their ongoing commitment plays a vital role in keeping our community safe, particularly during extreme weather events.
