Reservoir Road Closure for SA Water Upgrade Works

SA Water will soon undertake final upgrade works on the Myponga Reservoir dam spillway gates, starting Monday 29 September 2025 and continuing for approximately three weeks (weather permitting).

To safely accommodate the movement of a large crane and other machinery, Reservoir Road will be temporarily closed between Forktree Road and the Myponga Reservoir Lookout during this period.

These works mark the final stage of a significant project to remediate the spillway gates and associated infrastructure. In 2024, SA Water and construction partner John Holland Guidera O’Connor Joint Venture removed and refurbished the gates for the first time since their commissioning in 1962. The final tasks include replacing bolts, painting and surveying the alignment of all three gates to ensure they continue operating reliably into the future.

  • Work schedule: 7 am to 5 pm, Monday to Saturday
  • Road closure: Reservoir Road between Forktree Road and the Myponga Reservoir Lookout
  • Access: The Myponga Reservoir Reserve will remain open for all land and water-based recreational activities. No water releases are anticipated as part of these works.
