Rapid Bay Jetty – Temporary Closure for Maintenance Works
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) is undertaking essential maintenance on the new Rapid Bay Jetty to improve its structural integrity and extend its lifespan.
Recent works have included installing new access ladders and replacing sections of corroded steel. During these works, further corrosion was identified on the underside metal beams of the concrete walkway. Remediation is required to ensure the jetty continues to remain safe and accessible.
To complete these important works, the jetty will be temporarily closed from Wednesday 17 September 2025 for approximately 3 weeks (weather permitting).
To minimise the impact over the public holiday period, full access to the jetty will be available from the afternoon of Friday 3 October through to Tuesday 7 October inclusive.
Council appreciates the community’s patience and understanding while DIT completes this essential maintenance.
