Consultation Now Open: Draft 2025-26 Annual Business Plan & Budget

We’re inviting our community to provide feedback on the District Council of Yankalilla’s Draft 2025-26 Annual Business Plan & Budget, now open for public consultation until Thursday, 22 May 2025.

This year’s draft is the result of one of the most detailed and collaborative planning processes Council has ever undertaken. Six dedicated workshops with Elected Members, in addition to our regular quarterly financial workshops, provided space for ideas, suggestions and models to be shared, questioned, refined and tested. This robust engagement has shaped a draft plan that is balanced, strategic and ready for your feedback.

The result is a carefully considered draft that outlines Council’s priorities and financial commitments for the year ahead. It reflects our shared long-term vision, VISION 2030, and a strong focus on financial sustainability. Key features include:

  • A proposed total rates income increase of 6.4% to accommodate inflationary pressures, growth and service sustainability.
  • A continued focus on responsible capital investment, with a reduced spend on asset renewal while updated asset data is gathered to inform future planning better.
  • A principle of operating within our financial means in 2025-26, without increasing borrowing.
  • A revised suite of fees and charges, reflecting Council’s cost-recovery approach.

How to have your say:

Community Engagement Sessions:

  • Tuesday 29 April, 3 - 6pm: Drop-in Q&A Session at Yankalilla Library & Cultural Centre
  • Wednesday 14 May, 3 - 6pm: Drop-in Q&A Session at Second Valley Soldiers’ Memorial Hall
  • Tuesday 20 May, 6 - 7pm: Public Meeting at Council Chambers - 5 min verbal submissions will be heard by Elected Members

This year’s draft plan builds on the strong foundations laid in recent years and continues “staying the course” - focusing on what matters most to our community while planning for a sustainable future.

As we finalise the plan, we want to ensure it reflects the needs and aspirations of our district. We encourage you to read the Draft 2025-26 Annual Business Plan and Budget and Draft Long-Term Financial Plan 2025-2035 and let us know whether the proposed priorities and projects align with your expectations.
