Community consultation now open – Rapid Bay Camping Ground CLMP amendment
The District Council of Yankalilla is seeking community feedback on proposed amendments to the Rapid Bay Camping Ground Community Land Management Plan (CLMP).
Why this matters:
The Rapid Bay Camping Ground is classified as community land and managed under a Community Land Management Plan. This plan must be regularly reviewed to ensure it reflects current operations and legislative requirements.
Changes in the campground’s operational and management structure over the past year mean the plan now requires updating. The proposed amendments include:
- Expanded leases and licences – clearer detail on how leases, licences and short-term permits are managed, ensuring each is consistent with the management plan and the Local Government Act 1999.
- Purpose of the land – broader wording to allow short-term uses and permits in line with Council’s by-laws.
- Alignment with best practice – updates to bring this plan into line with the management plan for the Normanville Jetty Holiday Park, which was amended and adopted by Council in May 2024.
These changes aim to provide clarity, improve governance and better reflect Council’s intentions for the use of this important community asset.
How to get involved:
Consultation is open from Tuesday, 30 September to Thursday, 30 October 2025. You can provide feedback by:
- completing the comment form on Your Say Yankalilla
- emailing participate@yankalilla.sa.gov.au
- posting written comments to PO Box 9, Yankalilla SA 5203
- contacting Council staff to arrange a time to discuss your views in person.
Copies of the updated draft plan are available on Your Say Yankalilla or at the Council Office, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Why we need your feedback:
Under Section 198 of the Local Government Act 1999, Council must consult the community before adopting any changes to a management plan. Your input will help ensure the updated plan is transparent, balanced and reflects the needs and expectations of the community. All feedback will be carefully considered and presented to Council before a final decision is made.
