Community Consultation Now Open – Code of Practice for Access to Meetings and Documents

The District Council of Yankalilla is inviting community feedback on proposed amendments to its Code of Practice for Access to Meetings and Documents.

Under the Local Government Act 1999, Councils are required to review this Code within 12 months following each periodic election. In addition to this legislative requirement, Council’s own Code of Practice commits to reviewing the policy every two years. This biennial review is now underway, with several proposed amendments identified.

Council is now seeking community input to ensure the Code continues to reflect our strong commitment to transparent and accountable governance.

Why This Matters

The Code of Practice outlines how the public can access Council and Committee meetings, as well as associated documents. It’s an important document that helps support open decision-making and public trust.

We are now asking our community:

  • To review the proposed changes.
  • To ask questions.
  • To share feedback on the document.

Your thoughts will help shape the final version of the Code.

How to Get Involved

Consultation is open from Wednesday, 25 June to Wednesday, 16 July 2025.

Visit Your Say Yankalilla to:

  • Read about the proposed changes.
  • Ask questions through the online forum.

Why We Need Your Feedback

Community input helps ensure our governance practices are open, accessible and aligned with the needs of our community. All feedback will be carefully considered before the final Code is presented to Council in August 2025.
