Building Local Food Communities

The District Council of Yankalilla, in collaboration with The Food Embassy and the Fleurieu Environment Centre, is excited to present a three-part workshop series designed to inspire and empower individuals to become active food citizens.

Building Local Food Communities is more than just a workshop series - it’s a call to action. These interactive sessions will explore how we can work together at an individual, community and regional level to create a more resilient and sustainable food system. Whether you're passionate about climate action, interested in growing your own produce or simply want to connect with others who care about local food, these sessions are for you.

What to Expect

Each workshop will feature:

  • Inspiring guest speakers
  • Hands-on practical skills
  • Take-home resources
  • Opportunities for discussion and collaboration

Light snacks and drinks will be provided to keep you energised as you share your ideas and learn from others.

As part of the series, participants will also have the opportunity to help kickstart a locally led food project. Ongoing mentoring will be available beyond the workshops to support the development and implementation of your ideas.

Together, we can shape a sustainable food future for the district and beyond.
