Australia Day Celebrations 2026 at Yankalilla Memorial Park

The District Council of Yankalilla invites the community to come together to celebrate Australia Day 2026 at Yankalilla Memorial Park.

Join us on Monday 26 January for a morning that recognises community spirit, service and the people who make our district a great place to live.

The celebrations will begin with a BBQ breakfast cooked by the Lions from 8 am, with a gold coin donation appreciated. A coffee van, Barking Bean, will also be on site, along with family-friendly lawn games for all ages to enjoy.

The official opening will commence at 9 am, followed by one of the highlights of the morning: the presentation of the Citizen of the Year Awards. These awards celebrate individuals and groups whose contributions have made a significant and lasting impact within our community.

The event will also include a Citizenship Ceremony, where we will proudly welcome 8 new citizens to the district and the presentation of Community Grants, recognising local initiatives that strengthen our community.A visual tile that contains some of the information listed in the artiicle above.

Guests will hear from our Australia Day Ambassador, Ms Monique Bareham, the 2022 Australian of the Year. Ms Bareham is widely recognised as a ‘powerhouse’ lymphoedema advocate and a tireless consumer partner in research and her address is sure to inspire.

Council encourages residents, families and visitors to attend and share in this important day of reflection, recognition and celebration.
