Subsidised Cat Desexing Program for DCY Residents
The District Council of Yankalilla, in partnership with the Dog and Cat Management Board, the National Desexing Network and our local vet, is pleased to offer a subsidised desexing program for our community members. This initiative aims to support residents with the cost of desexing their cats, ensuring the health and well-being of our feline friends.
Eligible residents of the District Council of Yankalilla will receive a subsidised rate to have their cat desexed. This program is managed by the National Desexing Network. To determine eligibility, residents can contact the National Desexing Network on 1300 368 922. If eligible, they will receive a desexing voucher, which they can then use to schedule an appointment with the participating vet.
These subsidies are available while Council funds last, so residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity promptly.
Desexing cats between 2 and 4 months of age is highly recommended. Early desexing helps ensure male cats are less likely to fight, roam, and spray, while female cats can become pregnant as early as four months old and can breed continuously after that.
We are committed to the welfare of our feline friends and the well-being of the community. Join us in promoting responsible pet ownership.
