Yankalilla Council Transport Service Breaks Record
We are thrilled to announce that the Yankalilla Council Transport Service (YCTS) achieved a new record high in February, travelling 17,497 km in just 28 days while making 448 service deliveries. This is a remarkable achievement and reflects the dedication and commitment of our team to provide high-quality transportation services to our community.
YCTS is an important service that provides support to residents living in their own homes and is funded by the Department of Health under their Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and the District Council of Yankalilla. Our community transport service is available to permanent residents 65 years of age or older and carers thereof, or 50 years and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The transport service is not only available for medical and allied health appointments, but also for outings that benefit general wellbeing. During February, we took 191 of our 453 clients to various appointments all over our region, including Victor Harbor, Normanville, Cape Jervis, Yankalilla, Adelaide, Flinders Medical Centre, Noarlunga Hospital, Seaford day surgery, McLaren Vale, and Mt Barker. This highlights the critical role that our service plays in ensuring that our community members can access important appointments and services.
Our service is administered and coordinated by the District Council of Yankalilla, and driving is offered by a dedicated team of volunteers who are trained and supported by the council. We are proud to have a team of compassionate and qualified individuals who are committed to serving our community.
Payment for the service is by donation, and guidelines are listed in the CHSP Client Contribution Policy 2018 (112 kb). We believe that access to transport should not be a barrier for anyone in our community, and we are committed to providing a service that is affordable and accessible to all.
We understand that availability can be limited, especially on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and we encourage everyone to book their appointments as soon as possible by calling the direct line on 8558 4086. If you have any questions or general inquiries, our CHSP Officers are available to assist you from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm on weekdays.
The Yankalilla Council Transport Service plays a crucial role in ensuring that our community members have access to important services and appointments, and we are committed to providing a high-quality, affordable, and accessible service to all. We invite anyone who needs help with transport or has general inquiries to contact us, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community in the future.
