Magic at the Library
The library was buzzing with enchantment during the October school holidays, as young and old alike embarked on an unforgettable journey filled with magic, creativity and endless fun.
Our young visitors were treated to a magical school holiday experience, armed with activity bags brimming with inspiration, children embarked on crafting their very own puppets and magic tricks.
Our wonderful library staff and volunteers were on hand to provide guidance, ensuring that every child's puppet and magic trick dreams came to life. From crafting puppetry marvels with socks, wooden spoons, felt, and pop sticks to designing the most enchanting puppet plays, the library became a haven of creativity and wonder.
The magic of the library extended beyond its walls, as we welcomed the young talents of the children in Vacation Care. These budding puppeteers joined us to design their own puppets and enthralled one another with delightful puppet plays, forging connections that are a testament to the library's role as a community hub.
A highlight of our magical journey was the astounding performance by the one and only Amazing Magic Mike. Children and adults alike were left spellbound by his captivating magic show. After the show, children were invited to stay and take part in an exciting workshop, where they learned the secrets behind performing magic tricks, making puppets come to life and even creating balloon animals behind their backs!
Opportunities were had to experience the new additions to the library, the ‘Sphero’ robots. Magical characters were created with children making clay or sparkly wands, wizard or witch hats and newspaper broomsticks.
The library would like to take this opportunity to thank the volunteers who helped organise the activity bags and the activities.
