Plastic Free July

Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution – so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities. Will you be part of Plastic Free July by choosing to refuse single-use plastics?
The annual month-long event was started in 2011 by Rebecca Prince-Ruiz (the founder of the Plastic Free Foundation) and a small team in local government in Western Australia and is now one of the most influential environmental campaigns in the world. Millions of people across the globe take part every year, with many committing to reducing plastic pollution far beyond the month of July.
In 2021 an estimated 140 million people worldwide took part in Plastic Free July from 190 countries. Last year plastic Free July participants, on average reduce their household waste and recycling by 15kg per person per year (3.5% less waste), globally prevented 2.1 billion tonnes of plastic waste and recycling from being created. 86% of participants reported they made changes that have become habits/ a way of life.

This Plastic Free July FLEC invites you to take part in reducing your plastic consumption! You can sign up to take on the Plastic Free July Challenge and get free information and resources online be registering at https://www.plasticfreejuly.org/take-the-challenge/
