Local Artist to give Yellow Pots a Makeover
Council has supported a public art proposal from a highly regarded local artist, Barb Pettigrew, to artistically enhance the entrance to the Yankalilla township by painting murals on the five yellow pots located outside the Yankalilla Post Office.
The Arts and Culture Advisory Group highly recommends this public art proposal and Council resolved to support the project with an Arts & Creativity Grant for $1,000 and a small allocation from the Council’s youth budget to facilitate the mentoring of two local young artists who will assist with the project.
Council has received approval from the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) to close the slip lane in front of the Post office while the artists are working on site. The Artist has commenced the project Monday 21 March which will take approximately 5 days to complete.
Council staff have consulted with adjacent businesses and residences who are supportive of the project.
