Landcare Grant now completed at Cape Jervis
Landcare Australia contracted Trees For Life to direct seed over 44 hectares of degraded coastal reserves at Cape Jervis under the guidance of the Coastal Conservation Officer. Community planting events organised by the Coastal Conservation Officer in partnership with the Fleurieu Environment Centre were completed in July with over 2,000 seedlings planted and guarded with second hand core flute guards. These seedlings had been propagated at the Fleurieu Coast Community Nursery by volunteers for this project. This revegetation aims to improve biodiversity of this site and to provide long term habitat for threatened species, including the Glossy Black Cockatoo which have recently been seen returning to this area.
Since the community planting events in July the Gloss Black Cockatoo had been seen at nearby Fishery Beach revegetation site and the Deep Creek Conservation Park.
