Fleurieu Coast Visitor Centre Goes for Gold

The Fleurieu Coast Visitor Centre (FCVC) is an integral part of, not only the visitor experience, but also the community as a whole and now can boast that it is the best VIC in SA after winning the 2022 South Australian Visitor Information Centre of the Year Award in May.

The award is an absolute coup for our small, experienced team and a big tick of approval for the on-going improvements we have made to the visitor experience both in person, at the Fleurieu Coast Visitor Centre and on-line, through our website, www.visitfleurieucoast.com.au

Miranda Lang, Manager, Infrastructure and Regional Engagement for SATC, presented the award to Darren Burgess, Team Leader, Tourism & Visitors and Jenny Howes, Tourism Administration Officer on behalf of the FCVC at the 2022 SA VIC Conference which was held in Port Lincoln on the 10th May.

The reason our Fleurieu Coast Information Centre was chosen, in 2022, was our ability to increase traffic and engagement with visitors and community through the implementation of our online booking portal.

Throughout 2021 we embarked on auditing and delivering a new look website and online booking experience for our visitors to the region and our local community events.

From the inception of the booking portal we have received an increase in online traffic to our website, visitfleurieucoast.com.au, which has improved our Search Engine Optimization score and now has our webpage ranked 3rd on the list for the google search "Fleurieu Coast".

The only two websites who rank above us is the state and regional tourism bodies webpages.

Before the inclusion of the online booking portal for events, we were ranked well behind other websites when visitors searched about visiting the Fleurieu Coast.

Notwithstanding the above, the inception of the booking capabilities has been instrumental in providing a booking option for attendees of our region’s events and it has enhanced the visitor, and event’s organisers, experience by providing a low cost online booking service with personalized counter and phone capabilities, all in one place.

In 2022 we want to be the booking site for all Fleurieu Coast events!

Our award-winning team prides itself on creating an engaging experience for all who enter the facility by providing supreme matchmaking services to our visitor economy, as well as the occasional new resident and local.

The passion and knowledge shown by our staff and participants creates that perfect environment where visitors end up staying that extra time or that extra night within our region to the benefit of operators and local businesses.

As Steve Davis, Talking About Marketing, states in his most recent blog article:

“Whether you’re a tourist ready to explore South Australia or an operator working in the South Australian tourism sector, staff and volunteers in our Visitor Information Centres have pearls of wisdom to help you discover our great state’s treasures.”
