Goondooloo Ridge Day Visitor Facilities Open
Wednesday 29 September saw the Official Opening of the Goondooloo Ridge Day Visitor Facilities.
Located in the Deep Creek Conservation Park, the facilities are part of the $6m Wild South Coast Way project. The new facilities and upgrades will enhance sections of the existing iconic Heysen Trail from Cape Jervis to Victor Harbor.
New facilities at Goondooloo Ridge include; designated picnic nodes with tables, accessible toilets, sealed carpark, road-side bus parking and interpretative signage, a spectacular lookout with views of Backstairs Passage and Kangaroo Island and the Goondooloo Ridge Walk – a 4.2km return class 2 trail.
Officially opened by Hon David Speirs MP, Minister for Environment & Water, the opening was attended by Chief Executive Nigel Morris and Deputy Mayor Leon Zarins.
The Wild South Coast Way on the Heysen Trail has been supported by the South Australian Government through the National Parks and Wildlife Service and with project partners, Friends of the Heysen Trail, District Council of Yankalilla and the City of Victor Harbor.
