$100,000 in Community Grant Funding Allocated

The Community Grants Scheme provides a support mechanism for community groups within the Yankalilla District to help with projects and events

This financial year Council allocated a total of $100,000 for Community funding which was allocated as follows:

  • Myponga Community Centre, $25,000
  • Community initiatives to celebrate New Year’s Eve, $5,000
  • Yankalilla Memorial Park, $25,000
  • Festival Fleurieu, $15,000
  • Community Grants Scheme, $25,000

The Community Grants Scheme provides a support mechanism for community groups within the Yankalilla District to help with projects and events. Council received 26 applications from many different community groups totalling funding requests of $48,118.

At the November Council meeting the Community Grants Scheme funding of $25,000 was allocated. In addition to the $25,000, several Elected Members chose to donate the increase in their Council Member allowance and additional amounts to the Community Grant program.

Mayor Glen Rowlands donated a total of $1,080 to Fleurieu Trails for their Mountain Bike project.

Council will also provide an In-Kind Contribution to the Second Valley Progress Association for nursery tubestock and bunting, signage and site closure during works.
