2022 Council Election Results

On Thursday the 24th of November at a Special Meeting, Council voted to elect Councillor Darryl Houston as Mayor for the next four years. Following this, at the Inaugural Meeting on Tuesday the 29th of November, Council elected Councillor Tim Moffat as the new Deputy Mayor for the next four years.

Five Councillors were re-elected in the 2022 Council Elections and will have four new members join them. 16 nominations were received; six in Field Ward and ten in Light Ward.

Once again, the elections saw strong voter participation in the Yankalilla District, with 2,365 eligible voters casting a vote. At a voting rate of 51%, that puts our community well in front of our neighbouring councils (City of Victor Harbor 46%, and  Alexandrina Council 44%), demonstrating how engaged our community is.

Congratulations to all Councillors and the Mayor who will steer our community for the next four years.

At its Inaugural meeting on Tuesday 29 November, Council resolved to hold Ordinary Council meetings once a month on the third Tuesday, commencing at 4.00pm in the Council Chambers at 1 Charles Street, Yankalilla.
