A chance for Yankalilla Youth to participate in History Month by drawing or painting and enterting th art competition to celebrate the Districts history.  Entries close 27th May.  Entries to the Visitor Information Centre, Council office or the Library.

Dogs SA and the Agility Nationals 2016 Organising Committee are pleased to announce that the venue for the Agility Nationals SA 2016will be Wirrina Cove.

Dog agility is a very popular sport in Australia.  It is where the handler directs their dog through a variety of obstacles such as tunnels, weave poles and jumps, as quickly and accurately as they can.  it is also a fabulous spectator sport.

Wirrina Cove and surrounds

Approx 30 riders will leave camp (Wirrina Cove) at midnight (12am) and follow a course marked with refelctive arrows.  Riders will rest every 40kms.  The course is 160kms long and spread over 24 hours.  All riders start togehter, however over time they will seperate into smaller groups.

WIRRINA BLUEGRASS & ACOUSTIC ROOTS FESTIVAL

The Wirrina Bluegrass Festival is all about acoustic music.

Bluegrass is born of the acoustic tradition.   It features the five string banjo, mandolin, guitar, upright bass, resonator guitar and fiddle and is noted for its lightning-fast picking and vocal harmonies.  The festival will showcase other genres throughout the weekend as well, acknowledging that the roots of Bluegrass go deep- and that it has not lost any of the sense of community that it shares with its Folk and Country origins.

2006 New Years Eve Pageant Fireworks

NORMANVILLE NEW YEARS EVE PAGEANT

Yankalilla District Community Cultural Arts Network

New Year's Eve 2016 will see the 19th Annual Normanville New Year's Eve Pageant. The pageant consists of a parade of approximately 40 colourful floats leaving Katherine Drive at 7.30pm sharp winding its way through the streets of Normanville ending at the beautiful Normanville foreshore at approximately 8pm.

Locals and tourists alike flock to the foreshore to be entertained by a DJ, amusements, and fed by the local community clubs and groups. The night's festivities are finalised with a fireworks display at around 9.45pm. The pageant provides a fun, safe family environment for the entire community plus the many visitors staying in the area.

You are invited to be part of the pageant, whether it be just as a visitor or as a participant contact TJ Marks on 0407 174 262 if you have any queries.

The Pageant is a non-profit community organisation run by a very small group of locals, with the District Council of Yankalilla and Yankalilla Foodland providing sponsorship and the remaining funds required to stage the event are raised throughout the year. Look out for the girls in pink collecting for next years Pageant, they will be roaming throughout the parade collecting much needed donations. if you want to help us out with fundraising toss in a few coins or whatever you can afford.

Festival Fleurieu celebrates the important place of artistic creativity in the life of the community of the Yankalilla Council district - also known as The Western Fleurieu Peninsula. Through this biennial festival, our community also values and celebrates heritage, landscape and the natural environment. This is our sense of place.

2015 saw over 90 registered events located in more that 50 venues across the region so there is something for everyone.

Festival Fleurieu (Leafy Sea Dragon Festival Association Inc. trading as...) is a not-for-profit incorporated group.
