Family History

With a colonial history dating back to the 1840's many people can trace their family history back to the Yankalilla district. The Centre sells a number of local history books that are of interest to family history researchers. These include:

  • To Find the Way - Yankalilla and District 1836-1986 by Roy Williams
  • The Second Valley by Ron Blum
  • Schools of the Western Fleurieu Peninsula
  • Christie Family History
  • Lush Family History
  • Early Settlers of the Yankalilla District

Historic cemeteries are situated in Yankalilla, Normanville and Bullaparinga. Information on the grave sites at the Bullaparinga Cemetery are kept at the Visitor Information Centre for public viewing. Council also maintains a cemeteries register which is available for public viewing.

If you have a family history question send an email to: tourism@yankalilla.net.au and we may be able to point you in the right direction.
